Grief Encounter of the worst kind

Grief Encounter of the worst kind

For a child the loss of a parent must rank amongst the worst imaginable life events. Is the sense of loss any less or the impact any less drastic when the loss is due to the action of a parent severing a parental relationship for no good reason?

‘It’s not that I miss her, but that I missed out – I was too young to really know who she was, and the sense of loss is something I have felt every day since her passing 28 years ago.’

When this happens to the most precious and vulnerable people we know, it is hard to imagine what kind of parent would consciously inflict such pain and suffering upon those they purport to love more than anything else.
